Hi,

I just wanted to offer two suggestions to help you improve your notely app.

Firstly, you have saved me countless hours by making it and I cannot thank-you enough. I really hope you feel proud of making it because you have saved a student’s sanity in university!

I had two minor suggestions for improvements:
1. so you know, in the ipad app it doesn’t work with bluetooth keyboards and half of the screen becomes an empty useless black space where the keyboard used to be (the keyboard disappears when the bluetooth keyboard is being used).
2. em dashes, the symbols you get when you type alt + 0151 ” — ” become an N with a squiggly accent when synced as a text file to dropbox. I was just wondering if you could correct this.

Hi,
I’m interested in finding out if the Markdown syntax implementation in your app is canonical. My main concern is if a carriage return will create a new line or if the carriage return must be preceded by 2 spaces (please see http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax#p )

Hello Patrick,

I bought Notely from the App Store and was very happy with it – I even wanted to give it 5 stars in the store.
But I encountered big problems when uploading the textfiles to Dropbox. I´ve written lots of briefings for my crew on Notely and the english texts work well, but german texts get cluttered after they have been uploaded. The letters Ä, Ö, Ü, ä, ö, ü, ß and others get replaced by strange glyphs and all the breaks get lost, which makes it impossible to read.
This makes it difficult to use the app, as I use it to share infos with other crewmembers via the ipad.

Are there any plans to fix that?

Apart from that, Notely is a really great editor, I love the extended keyboard and the folder functions.

I was wondering how many taps it takes to open a URL from the text. A lot of apps only have highlighting in the markdown preview.

Hi.. love the app, its fantastic for my work so I can take all my important files on the go with me. A couple of comments I have:

- I noticed a comment above about being able to wifi transfer whole files full of documents to the iphone.. that would be very useful as it took me a while to individually copy all the files I wanted. Do you plan to add this or is dropbox / FTP the only option for this?
- The app seems to crash when I turn it to landscape mode, seems to only be when viewing certain file types – .ppt was one I noticed it on. It has also happened to me sometimes with .pdf’s, but not all the time strangely. Is this a bug you are aware of?

Hi Patrick, can you tell me why my Notely app will not stay open. Have re booted my iPad but did not help. I am afraid to delete app and re get I case my stuff will not sync back from Dropbox. Any suggestions???

Hi,
This app sounds good. Before I go ahead and buy it I wanted to know, can I create sub folders (folders within folders) in the app? Like nested folders?

Also can I view MS office documents in the app and transfer them using USB cable from my MacBook?

I recenlty purchased and began using Taskly… I am very happy with it. Nice job.

I use the mapping feature often, but wish it had the ability to be switched to “Standard” maps. Currently it is set to display “Satellite” maps, and I don’t see any setting inside the app for changing this. Is this something that you could consider adding to the app? If so, I think it would be very helpful.

Need help with Dropbox and notely linking. They are currently linked but a couple of folders are empty within notely, which is not the case with dropbox. I need this to be extremely user friendly for my purposes.
