Features for Taskly 1.1

April 23rd, 2010 No comments

I’ve been thinking about some new features I’d like to add to Taskly v1.1 (currently in development), so here is a list:

  • When viewing a location aware task, adding a button that will bring you to that task on the map
  • Custom Smart Lists – Choose what you would like in a smart list, for example: create a single Smart List that has next 7 days and past due tasks.
  • Add a setting that when turned on would remove Subtask Lists and Checklists from the map if there are no incomplete tasks in their respective lists.
  • Remove Auto Sync from Settings and make Taskly always auto sync if the Taskly Account is active.
  • Add more flexibility for setting reminder times.

These are just a few of the things I’ve been thinking about adding and of course I’ll be fixing any bugs that you or I have been experiencing. If you have any other features you’d like to see, leave them in the comments.

Taskly Update 1.0.47 Available

April 20th, 2010 4 comments

An update to my app Taskly has been approved. Here are the changes:

+ Added the ability to add photos by using the camera on supported devices

+ Added Help to the Settings tab

+ Added new feature to Quick Add Task. When tapping Done on the keyboard it allows you to keep adding tasks in succession. Tapping Save just adds the one task.

- Fix: Section headers when adding a List were wrong

- Fix: Search was pulling up deleted tasks

- Fix: Smart Lists in Settings were duplicating when switching to a different tab and then back

- Fix: When editing photos, the controls were a little low

- Fix: Audio recording and playback was not working on some devices

Taskly 1.0 Released

April 13th, 2010 No comments

My newest app Taskly has just been approved and is now available in the iTunes App Store. Here is the description and some screenshots

Taskly is a task manager with a sleek interface to help you organize your life. With push notifications, Taskly will always keep you up to date on when a task is do.

*NOTE: In order for Reminders to work, you must setup a free Taskly account which can be done in Taskly. We also recommend turning Auto Sync to ON in the settings to prevent receiving unwanted reminders.

Taskly has a 4 tier hierarchy. You have List Categories, Lists, Tasks or Checklist and Subtasks or Checklist Items. This allows for much flexibility in organizing your tasks. Also, we’ve included Smart Lists such as Today, Due, Incomplete, Contexts, etc… for easy access to those specific tasks.

COMMON USES
- When a task is due, you’ll be notified (requires a free Taskly account) according to when you want to be notified (reminders set per task, not just a global time).

- When you need to know what tasks are due today or past due, use the corresponding Smart List to find out.

- Can’t find that 1 task you are looking for in your lists or subtask lists? use the handy search feature.

- Need to attach some clients to a task so you can email or call them later? Great, just attach the contacts from your Address Book.

- Need a part for your car so you can fix it? Just input the task, take a photo and attach it to the task so you can show an employee when you get to the store.

- Do you have tasks that happen over and over such as bills to pay or taking out the trash? Well, you can easily setup repeating tasks in Taskly which work great with Reminders.

- Afraid you’ll loose all your data when you upgrade to the newest iPhone or iPod touch? No worries, just sync your data with your free Taskly account and when you get that new device, install Taskly, input your user information and then restore your data back to the new device from the server.

FEATURES:
- Multi Task delete and move
- Tap and hold a task to bring up the Quick Action Menu
- Email Galore: All Lists and Tasks, individual task, Subtask List, Checklist, etc…
- Set due dates along with reminder times (free Taskly account required)
- Setup tasks to repeat
- Set priorities
- Sort individual lists or subtask lists by: Your Order, Due Date, Priority, Created Date, or the global default set in Settings

- Badges show on lists and subtask lists showing incomplete and due tasks corresponding to that list
- Add new tasks straight from the date you are viewing on the calendar
- Add new tasks or contexts from the map view

Get directions to a location aware task or context using the built in Maps app or Navigon
And Much More…

PUSH NOTIFICATION INFORMATION
Taskly uses Apple’s Push Network to receive audible popup reminders when a task is due. In order to receive these notifications, you must register for a FREE Taskly account of which you can do in the Taskly app.  Apple has designed the system so that our server must know about the task before it can send the reminder to your device. For this to work, you have to sync your device with patrickotten.com (where your Taskly account is). You must also have a network connection at the time you receive the reminder, otherwise the message sent from our server won’t be able to reach your device.
